Background

Human Resource Management (HRM) is becoming increasingly important to modern organisations. The nature, operation and philosophy of HRM, its environmental and organisational context are widely discussed among practitioners and academia. The course provides a broad introduction to contemporary HRM theory and practice and its relevance to other management activities. The aim is to provide a theoretical framework for further study and managerial practice in the field, and to increase awareness of the holistic nature of organisational management.

Keeping in mind the current needs of industries, the Institute has designed the PGDHRM course in the year 2000. As of now, more than 1000 students successfully completed the course.

Objectives

The objective of the PGDHRM at MGLI is to create HR Professionals who have the competencies to

  • Understand the business of the organization and the factors that influences it;
  • Comprehend the association between business and HR deliverables;
  • Recognize the role of self in building acceptance, credibility and respect in the organization;
  • Appreciate employees in order to build a relationship between their aspirations and organizational demand;
  • Lead or contribute in the formulation and implementation of best in class Human resources practices in their organization; and
  • Take on a strategic role in the development and accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate should have a Bachelor‘s degree in any discipline with minimum 50% marks from a recognized University.

Admission Procedure:

Admission process will be based on Merit and the performance of candidate in the interview conducted by the institute.

Course Structure:

The Course PGDHRM is divided into three semesters:

Semester – 1

  • Paper – 1 Labour Economics
  • Paper – 2 Research Methods
  • Paper – 3 Organisational Behaviour
  • Paper – 4 Organisational Development
  • Paper – 5 Social Security and Labour Welfare

Semester – 2

  • Paper – 6 Business Environment\
  • Paper – 7 Human Resource Management
  • Paper – 8 Industrial Relations
  • Paper – 9 Labour Legislation

Semester – 3

  • Project Work in Industry for 6 Weeks
Award of Degree Certificate: The Degree Certificate and Mark sheet will be awarded by the Institute duly signed by the Director General, who is a Senior IAS of the State Government.
Duration: Duration of the Course is One Year Full Time. Academic Term for PGDHRM will start from August and ends in July
Timings: Classes will be held in the Institute at such times during 11.00 to 16.00 p.m. hours on weekdays (excluding public holidays) as the course coordinator may determine.
Attendance: 75% Percentage of attendance in class is compulsory
Medium of Instruction: The medium of instruction in PGDRHM will be English
